Birth Trauma Resolution Therapy

If your birth left you with more than just memories, if it's affecting how you feel day to day, or getting in the way of connecting with your baby this is a safe, specialist space to begin to heal. At your pace. Without judgement.

Why This Matters

What you experienced was real. How you feel about it is valid. And healing is possible.

You don't need a formal diagnosis to seek support. You don't need to justify how you feel.
If something about your birth experience is still affecting you
days, months, or even years later - that is enough

What is Birth Trauma
Resolution Therapy?

Birth Trauma Resolution (BTR) therapy is a proven, solution-focused therapeutic approach designed to help you process and heal from birth trauma, loss, or perinatal PTSD.

By combining neuroscience with effective therapeutic techniques, BTR helps alleviate distressing symptoms - so you can move forward with confidence and ease. You'll be able to remember your experience without reliving the pain.

Accreditation

BTR therapy is accredited by the Royal College of Midwives and the Human Givens Institute of Psychotherapy. All sessions are conducted with care, professionalism, and in line with strict ethical guidelines.

This therapy supports

  1. Birth trauma of any kind

  2. Baby loss — miscarriage, stillbirth, SIDS

  3. Fertility challenges

  4. Pregnancy or postpartum complications

  5. Perinatal PTSD

Open to mothers, birthing people, fathers and non-birthing partners.

Meet your therapist

I'm Melissa and I

Understand this personally

I'm a trained Birth Trauma Therapist and the founder of Beyond the Bump. Having personally experienced birth trauma, I understand how overwhelming it can be to find the right support.

My mission is to help parents heal, regain confidence, and move forward free from the weight of trauma. Using BTR therapy, we'll work together to reduce the distressing emotional intensity linked to your birth experience - so you can remember it without reliving the pain.

You deserve to heal, and I'm here to support you on that journey.

What happens in Birth Trauma therapy

Session 01

Understanding & Validation

We begin by listening to your experience with compassion and without judgment. We validate your feelings — your response to trauma is completely normal. You'll learn simple but powerful breathing techniques to manage anxiety and overwhelm.

Session 02
Healing & Processing
Gentle therapeutic techniques reduce the emotional intensity linked to your birth experience. A personalised guided relaxation and visualisation is created for you. You'll begin to feel a shift — gaining relief from flashbacks, panic, or anxiety.

Session 03

Confidence & Moving Forward

We focus on rebuilding confidence and equipping you with practical coping strategies. A guided relaxation continues your healing. Many people leave feeling lighter, more in control, and ready to move forward.

What every session offers

  • A safe, judgement-free space to share your experience and feel truly heard

  • Breathing Technique & tools to rebuild confidence and move forward

  • Validation of your birth experience and acknowledgement of its impact

I wasn't sure whether I needed birth trauma therapy because everyone kept telling me that my baby was healthy and that I should just be grateful. But months later I was still replaying my birth over and over again, feeling angry, upset and unable to move on.

The sessions helped me understand why I was feeling the way I was and gave me the space to process everything that had happened. For the first time, I felt truly heard and validated. I no longer feel overwhelmed when I think about my birth, and I've finally found some peace with my experience. I only wish I'd reached out sooner.

I couldn't talk about my birth without crying. Months later, I was still replaying everything in my mind and questioning what had happened. We had always wanted more children, but I couldn't even begin to think about another pregnancy because the fear felt so overwhelming.

We always knew we wanted another baby, but the thought of trying again filled me with fear. I couldn't imagine going through pregnancy or birth a second time. Birth trauma therapy gave me the space to process my experience, understand my emotions and start rebuilding trust in myself. For the first time since my birth, I could think about what happened without feeling consumed by it. I won't ever forget my experience, but it no longer defines me, and I finally feel excited and hopeful about growing our family.
