The Birth Preparation

Programme

preparing for birth shouldn't leave you feeling more overwhelmed. And it shouldn't only prepare you for one version of birth.

Most antenatal education still hasn't caught up
with the reality of birth today."

Intervention rates are rising. Inductions are increasingly common.

Caesarean rates are now approaching 45% nationally pathway.

This programme was built to change that.

The 6 modules

01

When and how to start

A modern approach to birth preparation for the reality of birth today

Most people prepare for birth hoping everything goes to plan. This session helps you prepare differently — understanding how birth and decision-making work in today's maternity system so you feel more informed, involved, and emotionally prepared for birth as it actually unfolds.

02

Your Body, Your Brain & Birth Physiology

Understand your body and brain so labour feels less frightening

Birth is not just physical. This session helps you understand how your nervous system, environment, emotions, and sense of safety all influence labour — helping you feel more connected to your body and less fearful of birth itself. Rather than "just stay calm," you'll understand why birth feels the way it does and what actually helps.

03

When Birth Doesn't Follow The Plan

Feel calmer and more prepared when birth changes direction

This is the session most people don't realise they need until they're in the middle of it. We explore induction, intervention, and unexpected change in a way that feels honest, balanced, and empowering — helping you feel less panicked by uncertainty and more able to stay involved in decisions when things move quickly.

04

Caesarean Birth: Planned, Unplanned & Everything In Between

Approach caesarean birth feeling informed, supported and confident

Whether caesarean birth is part of your plan or something you simply want to feel prepared for, this session helps remove fear of the unknown and replace it with clarity and confidence. We explore how caesarean birth can still feel calm, connected, and deeply positive — including both the emotional and physical side of recovery.

05

The Birth Partner Role

Help your birth partner feel calm, confident and genuinely useful

Most birth partners want to help — but don't know how. This session helps partners understand how to support labour in a practical, grounding, and emotionally safe way, so you both approach birth feeling more connected and prepared as a team.

06

Recovery, Processing & The First Weeks

Prepare for recovery and the early weeks with more honesty and support

Birth is not the finish line. This session prepares you for the realities of recovery, feeding, emotions, overwhelm, and the transition into early parenthood — helping you feel more supported and less blindsided after birth.

My wife and I attended antenatal classes here, and the experience was highly informative. From a birthing partner’s perspective, the learning should not be overlooked, I took many of the lessons into our own journey, and they really paid off.

Go in with an open mind. You may not agree with every approach or ideal, but they are presented to challenge your thinking, not to suggest there is only one “right” way. Vicky, who led the sessions, is very open about this.

Highly recommended.

We have now completed both the Antenatal courses and the Baby massage with Beyond the Bump and have loved both. Vicky and Melissa are so friendly and helpful and the information provided during the sessions is non-bias and greatly for first time parents. We have made a great group of friends from our course and can't wait for future play sessions! Would highly recommend
