The Role

Beyond the Bump UK CIC supports families through pregnancy and the postnatal period. Founded by Vicky and Melissa, our work brings together professional knowledge and lived experience to offer accessible, welcoming support.

We create spaces where parents can ask questions, share honestly and feel accepted. Our approach respects different births, feeding choices, family structures, cultures and ways of experiencing parenthood, including the needs of neurodivergent parents.

Purpose of the role

You will help new parents navigate early parenthood through practical support, nurturing parent–baby activities and opportunities to connect with others. You will hold a supportive group space, recognise when someone needs additional help and work with the founders to arrange appropriate signposting or referral.

This is a delivery-focused role. The founders retain responsibility for managing the volunteer network, funding and overall programme coordination.

Main responsibilities

  • Deliver postnatal groups

  • Plan, prepare and deliver Baby Massage sessions within your qualifications and competence, following the agreed course structure and safety procedures.

  • Facilitate Held & Connected after induction and programme training, creating space for honest conversation, emotional support and parent–baby connection.

  • Adapt sessions to different parent and baby needs, allowing for feeding, settling, accessibility and sensory preferences.

  • Welcome new and returning families, encourage participation without pressure, and help parents build supportive relationships.

  • Prepare resources, set up safe and welcoming rooms, and leave venues and equipment clean and ready for use.

  • Support parents and maintain boundaries

  • Listen with empathy and offer practical, evidence-informed support without judgement or pressure to parent in a particular way.

  • Recognise signs that a parent or baby may need additional support. Discuss concerns promptly with the designated lead and follow agreed referral and emergency procedures.

  • Signpost to appropriate services, including midwifery, health visiting, infant feeding support, GP services and specialist perinatal mental health support.

  • Work within your training and competence. Clinical assessments, diagnosis, counselling, birth trauma therapy and specialist feeding treatment are outside this role unless separately qualified and explicitly agreed.

What an average week may look like (this is only an example, days and working hours will be agreed)

  • Day 1: Short delivery day Held & Connected Class delivery including travel & setup/clear down (3 hours)

  • Day 2: Home admin day - scheduling sessions, booking rooms, sending out evaluation questionnaires, setting up WhatsApp groups (3 hours)

  • Day 3: Full delivery day Baby Massage Course, followed by a postnatal sensory session including travel & setup/clear down (6 hours)

  • Day 4: Short delivery day Baby Massage Course including travel & setup/clear down (3 hours)

Safeguarding and safe practice

Follow safeguarding, confidentiality, health and safety, infection prevention and lone-working procedures where relevant.

Explain the limits of confidentiality and respond to disclosures sensitively. Record and escalate concerns promptly through the agreed process.

Use consent-based practice, including for parent–baby activities, photographs and sharing feedback. Respect a parent’s choice to pause or decline an activity.

Records and teamwork

  • Keep accurate attendance records, brief relevant session notes and evaluation information, storing personal information securely.

  • Collect parent feedback and help the founders understand what is working and what needs to change.

  • Attend supervision, team check-ins and agreed training, and communicate clearly about concerns, resources and session plans.

  • Work alongside volunteers where neccessary, while referring volunteer management matters to the founders.

  • Delivery, preparation, set-up, pack-down, required administration, supervision, training and travel between work venues must be planned within the paid hours. Additional hours require prior agreement.

Person specification

Essential

  • Relevant experience supporting parents, babies or families in a professional, voluntary or community setting, with an understanding of the postnatal period.

  • Confidence facilitating small groups, listening sensitively and responding calmly when someone is distressed.

  • An understanding of professional boundaries, confidentiality and safeguarding, with willingness to complete required training.

  • An inclusive, non-judgemental approach that respects different family circumstances, identities, cultures, feeding choices and parenting decisions.

  • Good organisation, clear communication and the ability to work independently while keeping the team informed.

  • Ability to travel reliably to agreed Warwickshire venues and transport session resources, with reasonable adjustments considered.

  • Willingness to complete programme induction and deliver only activities for which you are appropriately trained and competent.

Desirable

  • A recognised infant massage teaching qualification and experience delivering parent–baby massage groups.

  • Relevant training in postnatal support, perinatal wellbeing, early attachment, family support or a related field.

  • Experience supporting neurodivergent parents or adapting activities for additional needs.

  • Knowledge of local family support services, experience of trauma-informed practice or a current relevant first aid qualification.

  • Baby Massage qualification is desirable at application stage, but appropriate qualification and approval are required before independent delivery. Applicants with strong relevant experience who need additional training are welcome; any training arrangements will be agreed before appointment.

What we offer

  • A meaningful role supporting local families within a small organisation.

  • Induction into our programmes, policies and ways of working, with regular supervision and support from the founders.

  • 84 hours of paid annual leave per full leave year, equivalent to 5.6 weeks at 15 hours per week, inclusive of bank holidays.

    • You will be required to take two weeks of annual leave during our Christmas closure and two weeks during our summer closure. Closure dates will be confirmed in advance. These periods form part of your annual leave entitlement.

    • The remaining entitlement will cover any other applicable bank holiday closures falling on your normal working days, with the balance available to request at other times, subject to approval and programme delivery needs. Entitlement will be adjusted proportionately if you join or leave during the leave year.

  • Reimbursement of approved business travel and expenses under our expenses policy.

  • 12 month fixed term role
